Dave Kluge is a multifaceted bassist, composer, and educator in Rochester, N.Y. As an active freelance bassist, he performs with several jazz combos and big bands in the Rochester area and enjoys collaborating with musician friends in a diverse range of projects. His compositions have included a commission from The Penfield Music Commission Project as well as those written for his own student groups and for professional jazz ensemble. In 2012 Dave released his first solo album, Restless & Breathing, which he composed, performed and engineered in his then apartment studio. His composition View From The Bridge was premiered at the 2013 Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival by the Eastman Community Music School’s Educators Band.

Dave studied jazz and classical bass and guitar while earning his Bachelors degree at SUNY Fredonia and completed his Masters degree at Nazareth College. From 2007-2013 he taught grades 4-8 instrumental music in the West Irondequoit Central School District, and currently teaches in the Rush-Henrietta Central School District where he is the senior high Orchestra Director. Dave and his wife Holly live in the Rochester area with their two sons where they enjoy writing music together.
